Whole Foods Expansion to Open Next Week

The Whole Foods Market on The Fairway is getting bigger. 

The purveyor of organic food will open its new 15,000-square-foot expansion Thursday, June 13. This means a new produce department a new community room and a portion of a new seafood department.

The expansion is part of a 5-month plan, according to a June 3 press release.  Over the summer, construction will continue on new meat, seafood, and “Whole Body” departments, which include a cooking section replete with bulk grains, nuts, seeds and spices. The project will also include a renovated bakery and a brick-oven pizza section.

The expansion event on June 13 will include live music, hourly classes on selecting fresh produce, a honeybee display by Briar Bush Nature Center and a storewide tasting event from 5 to 7 p.m.

The store is located at 1575 The Fairway, Jenkintown.
