4 PA Sandwich Shops Among 100 Best In America, New Ranking Says

If you didn’t already know, August is National Sandwich Month. If you want to observe it by chowing down on some of the best handhelds in America, four Pennsylvania sandwich shops are among the best in the nation, according to diners.
The places in the Keystone that made Yelp’s review-based list of the Top 100 Sandwich Shops include two Philadelphia delis, a Montgomery County sandwich shop, and an Italian market on the Main Line.

Christie's Deli, Philadelphia, (40th): The deli has a 4.8 Google review ranking, with patrons raving about the breakfast sandwiches.
Tredici Italian Market, Wayne (78th): The Italian market specializes in not just sandwiches, but an array of cheeses, cured meats, pastas and more. It has a 4.9 rating on Google, with diners saying the sandwiches live up to "the hype." One reviewer described the market as "Excellent, wonderful, could not praise the customer service, the soup, the cold sandwiches & the hot food enough! If you haven't been, try it, you will be satisfied!"

Grumpy's Handcarved Sandwiches (85th): The menu at Grumpy's includes six different turkey sandwich varieties, including the Hot Gobbler (chef carved turkey, roasted red peppers, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo) and the Turkey Special (chef carved turkey, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing). Diners, who give it a 4.8 on Google, say the eatery has a "terrific variety" with wonderful rolls and toppings.
Antonio's Deli, Philadelphia (94th): There are two locations of Antonio's Deli in Philadelphia. The menu includes a variety of sandwiches, including Italian favorites of chicken parm, sausage and hot roast pork. Google reviews say the eatery has delicious options with tasty bread. One reviewer said it's the "best food in S. Philly. The real deal. Original, down home-cooked food. The crispy tomato sandwich with turkey and bacon is a winner."
In its inaugural Top 100 Sandwich Shops list, Yelp said affordable sandwiches are having a moment and are increasingly going gourmet.
Yelp reviewers “love all the new house-made aiolis, chutneys, pâtés, and sauces these chefs are adding to their creations,” the site. “Diners also give high praise to unique, delicious toppings like pickled vegetables and olive tapenade, as well as the artisanal breads like fresh ciabatta, garlic bread, or pretzel buns.”
