5 Weekend Events In PA: Monster Jam, Sweet Corn Festival, Jimmy Buffett Tribute

Take a look at what's going on in the Keystone State on the last weekend in July.

PENNSYLVANIA — Is it just us, or is this summer going by quickly? It's the last weekend in July already, and Patch rounded up some events going on around Pennsylvania for you to check out this weekend.

Monster Jam roars into Allentown, Saturday and Sunday

This family-friendly competition features drivers who will race, do stunts, and wow crowds in their 12,000-pound monster trucks. Monster Jam is at the PPL Center in Allentown for three shows, featuring fan favorite competitors Grave Digger, ThunderRORARus, and Megalodon.

Storytime Saturdays at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, Saturday

Each Saturday at 11 a.m., the main Village Green will host a free storytime session featuring a favorite children’s book. Families can visit the six majestic sculptures that celebrate beloved stories and characters such as fairy tales, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Winnie-the-Pooh, Mother Goose stories, and Alice in Wonderland.

These weekly readings "are guaranteed to entertain and delight young visitors." Readings will run 15-25 minutes.

Party animals meet zoo animals at "ZooBrew: Decades" in Pittsburgh, Saturday

"Flash back to the past" at this 21-and-up event at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. Tickets include beer samples from a variety of breweries, small bites from the zoo's caterer, small animal visits, live music, and access to view some of the zoo's exhibits. Parking is also free. Event is from 6:30-10:30 p.m.

Tickets are $65 for members and $70 for non-members. Designated drivers can get reduced fees (one per order).

Inaugural Sweet Corn Festival at Charlann Farms, Saturday

Chomp on sweet corn, jump in the "corn pit," shop local artisans, and enjoy music by the Local Honey Band at Saturday's Sweet Corn Festival, at Charlann Farms in Morrisville from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets for those 2 and up at $9.99 per person. Rain date is Aug. 5. Click here for more info.

Summer Music Fest - the Caribbean Chillers in Bristol, Friday-Sunday

Fins up, Parrotheads! The William Penn Bank Summer Music Fest is going on at the Bristol Riverside Theatre Stage, and this weekend’s guests are the Caribbean Chillers. This Jimmy Buffett tribute band has performed across the country, as well as in Mexico and Cuba.

Show times are 8 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday; and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $50, and are $20 for children and students under 25. Military discounts are also available. Click here for more info.
