8 PA Ski Resorts Announce Opening Dates For Winter

With summer rapidly coming to a close, Pennsylvania's ski resorts are looking forward to cooler climes.

PENNSYLVANIA — With summer rapidly coming to a close, Pennsylvania's ski resorts are looking forward to cooler times and cooler climes.

Vail Resorts, operator of eight of the state's ski facilities, has announced their schedule for the coming winter.

Things open up on Nov. 25 at Seven Springs, located in Somerset and Fayette counties. The remainder of the schedule is as follows:

  • Dec. 2: Jack Frost
  • Dec. 16: Big Boulder, Liberty, Roundtop, Whitetail
  • Dec. 23: Hidden Valley, Laurel Mountain

Lift ticket sales will be limited on a daily basis to prevent overcrowding on the mountains.

“We care deeply about our guests’ experience at our resorts,” James O’Donnell, president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain division, said in a statement. “Limiting lift tickets throughout the season, alongside the big investments we’re making at our resorts and in our team members, will help us provide our guests with an experience of a lifetime this winter.”

Pennsylvania resorts also have additional hours to allow visitors to come after work and school.

Vail said they implemented upgrades to their equipment at all 37 of their resorts in North America, including Pennsylvania. That includes 18 new chairlifts and gondolas, as well as investments into snowmaking.
