PHILADELPHIA, PA — Forecasters have downgraded the impacts expected from a quick overnight storm. The Philadelphia region can now expect less than a half inch of snow from a system moving through Friday into Saturday. Conditions will clear by the mid-morning, the National Weather Service estimates.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service said the light snow will begin between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. Precipitation is expected to end between 7 and 10 a.m. Saturday.

Earlier estimates predicted the system could have dropped a few inches on the area, but the latest prediction map, issued early Friday, shows the expectations for significant snowfall have dropped.

In the wake of the storm, the flow of Arctic air will resume across the Northeast "well into next week," AccuWeather said.

"Some of the coldest air of the winter is likely to settle in across the Midwest and the Northeast early next week, given the origin of the Arctic air and the extent of the increasing snow cover in the regions," according to the latest information from AccuWeather.
