Home Values Rose Most In These PA Counties Last Year, Report Says

PENNSYLVANIA — Home values rose almost 11 percent in one Pennsylvania county last year but fell more than 13 percent in another, according to updated housing data.

Patch took a look at Zillow’s most recently-released data to compare how typical home values changed county-by-county around the Keystone State.

The biggest percentage increase for home values was in Sullivan County (10.96 percent), while Chester County saw the largest dollar-amount increase over the 12-month period ($28,393). Bucks, Montgomery, and Delaware counties were also among the counties where home prices went up the most.

In contrast, home prices went down more than 13 percent in Cambria County, a decrease of more than $17,000 over the year.

The most expensive county to buy a home in Pennsylvania as of the latest data is Chester County, where the typical home value is $505,941.

Zillow’s home value index (ZHIV) is a measure of the typical home value and market changes over a given area and housing type, calculated as a weighted average of the middle third of homes in that area.

Statewide, the median home price is $254,152 and homes are sold within a median of 14 days, based on December estimates.
