Latest Forecast, Timing For Possible Thursday Snow In Eastern PA

Some snow could fall in the region today. Here's the latest:

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Forecasters have issued an updated forecast for potential Thursday evening snow in Eastern Pennsylvania. While accumulation is not expected to be significant (less than an inch for most of the region), travelers should be mindful of slick road conditions in the evening, the National Weather Service said.

According to the latest information from the NWS, we can expect a dusting of less than an inch "at the most." Some areas in eastern PA near and north of I-78 could see up to two inches. The chance of snow remains at 50 percent.

Temperatures will remain cold with a southwest breeze.

The NWS also notes that "not everywhere is likely to receive a measurable dusting of snow" but the potential exists for the areas shaded in the following map:

There are two additional chances for snow in the near term, forecasters say. While details on those systems are still forthcoming, forecasters are not currently anticipating major impacts.

There is a slight chance of rain and snow on Saturday morning before 10 a.m.

There's also a chance of snow Sunday afternoon into evening. The National Weather Service has not issued accumulation predictions for that system, however The Weather Channel currently predicts 1 to 3 inches for the area.

Today: A chance of snow showers, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Snow showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 40. West wind around 5 mph.

Friday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 26. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.

Saturday: A slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Sunday: A chance of snow after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday night: A chance of snow before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26.
