Mid-Week Storm Threat Fizzles: Latest Forecast

PHILADELPHIA, PA — More details are now available on the track and timing of a mid-week storm that forecasters initially believed could pose a significant threat to the region.

While early estimates indicated the storm could dump accumulating snow on the area, the latest track shows the more significant impacts of the storm will likely pass to the south of Philadelphia.

Still, we could see a dusting of snow Thursday. Since the storm has taken a more southern track, Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs can expect less and an inch of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.

If the light snow materializes, it will likely arrive after 1 p.m. Thursday. There's currently just a 20 percent chance of the snow materializing, the latest NWS estimates show.

It will be continue to be cold and breezy, with winds gradually diminishing Tuesday night. Wind chill values will be in the single digits overnight.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 13. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 30. West wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. West wind around 5 mph becoming north after midnight.

Thursday: A slight chance of snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 36.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
