New Tourism Slogan Dubs PA 'The Great American Getaway'
The new brand replaces the 8-year-old "Pennsylvania. Pursue Your Happiness," established during former Gov. Tom Wolf's administration.
HARRISBURG, PA — A new tourism slogan unveiled by Gov. Josh Shapiro is highlighting Pennsylvania as "The Great American Escape."
Shapiro announced the new slogan last week during a visit to Lackawanna County, the first stop in a week-long RV tour ahead of Memorial Day Weekend to promote the new brand and the Keystone State's tourism industry.

In all, Shapiro planned to make 50 stops in 14 counties this week, his office said.
"Pennsylvania has so much to offer," Shapiro said during the May 20th stop. "To award-winning restaurants to incredible hikes through our state parks to some of the most important historic sites in the United States of America — here in Pennsylvania, let me tell you something. We have got it all."

According to the governor's office, nearly 72 million people live within a four-hour drive of thousands of Pennsylvania attractions. In all, tourism has generated $76 billion and supports more than 486,000 jobs a year.
On Monday, Shapiro said he hopes to boost spending by tourists to more than the almost $800 million spent in 2022.
As part of the new brand launch, the state also kicked off a summer marketing campaign called "Your Great American Getaway Starts Here." The campaign starts in late May and runs through August in markets including New York City, Washington, D.C., Cleveland and Toronto, and across the state.
The launch includes an advertisement narrated by Pennsylvania native and "Broad City" star Abbi Jacobson.
