PA Among Best States To Live In, New Study Says

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania has landed among top grouping of states to live in, according to a new study that looked at various data from 2022.

The Keystone State is the 14th best place to live in America, with a quality of life that places third overall, according to the 2022’s Best States to Live report from WalletHub, a financial consulting website.

WalletHub looked at 52 different factors of "livability" overall, ranging from housing costs and income growth to insurance, restaurants, and average health.

In addition to placing high in quality of life, Pennsylvania also placed 6th overall in restaurants per capita, thanks to thriving scenes of eateries in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

The state's total score was 56.42. Massachusetts was first overall with a 62.65 score, followed by New Jersey at 62.01.

The state landed 11th in percentage of insured popluation, 15th in homeownership rate, 17th in housing costs, and 18th in average weekly work hours.

It was more middling in other metrics, ranking 24th in the percentage of the population in poverty, and 25th in income growth.

It's economy, meanwhile, was near the bottom at 38th. Affordability was similarly low at 30th.
