PA Grocery, Hardware And Retail Stores That Are Open On July 4th
Need to pick up some last minute items for your Independence Day celebrations? Here's what's open.
If you want to escape neighborhood fireworks with retail therapy, pick up essentials for patriotic cocktails or grab supplies for a home improvement project, you’ll find that many stores across the Keystone State are open on the Fourth of July.
There are some exceptions, notably Costco, whose policy is to close on most major holidays. Although open Friday, some stores will observe reduced hours. It’s a good idea to call ahead to your local store to see if they are open.
As an added bonus, many stores are offering Independence Day sales and specials. Here’s what we know about retail outlets that are open and closed for Independence Day:

Retail Stores
Bass Pro Shops: Stores are closing two hours early for Independence Day and will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Best Buy: Stores are expected to be open regular hours, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Big Lots: Stores are expected to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Dick’s Sporting Goods: Most stores are expected to close early at 7 p.m.
Dollar General: Stores will be open, but hours may vary by location.
JCPenney: Stores will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Kohl’s: Most stores will be open regular hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., but some locations may close early.
Macy’s: Stores will observe normal hours.
Nordstrom: Stores will be open normal hours.
Office Depot and OfficeMax: Most locations will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Petco: Most locations will close at 8 p.m., though some may lock the doors an hour earlier at 7 o’clock.
Target: Stores will be open, but hours may vary by location.
Walmart: Most stores will be open regular hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Grocery Stores
Albertsons Companies stores: Albertsons grocery stores and others under the chain’s banner — Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets, and Balducci's Food Lovers Market — will be open regular hours.
Aldi: Stores will be open, but will observe limited hours that vary by location.
BJ’s Wholesale Club: Stores will be open regular hours.
Giant Food: Stores will be open regular hours.
Sam’s Club: Hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club members.
Stop & Shop: Stores will be open for regular hours.
Trader Joe’s: Stores will close four hours early at 5 p.m.
Wegmans: Stores will be open for regular hours.
Whole Foods: Stores will be open, but hours vary by location.
Hardware And Home Improvement Stores
Ace Hardware: Stores will be open regular hours.
Home Depot: Stores open at 6 a.m., but some locations may close early.
Lowe’s: Stores will open as usual at 6 a.m., but will close early at 8 p.m.
True Value: Some stores will be closed, and those open may adjust their hours
Drugstores
CVS: Most pharmacy locations are expected to be open regular hours, including 24-hour stores. However, some may close or observe limited hours.
Rite-Aid: The drugstore chain is in the process of closing all of its locations, but those that are still open are expected to observe regular hours, including at 24-hour locations.
Walgreens: Stores will be open, but pharmacy hours may vary by location.
