Polls To Remain Open Late In One PA Precinct, Court Rules

With the nation's eyes on Pennsylvania Tuesday, at least some Election Day votes will be coming in later than expected.

LUZERNE COUNTY, PA — With the nation's eyes on the pivotal battleground of Pennsylvania Tuesday, at least some Election Day votes will be coming in later than expected.

The Court of Common Pleas in Luzerne County ruled that one precinct will have to stay open until 9:30 p.m., after not opening until 8:30 p.m.

In a petition filed by the Luzerne County Election Bureau, officials said that some people waiting in line had to leave before the polling place finally opened.

All polling places in Pennsylvania were supposed to open at 7 a.m.

The court agreed with the request to keep the polls open by the same amount of time their opening was delayed by, which was 90 minutes.

Polls across the rest of the state will close at 8 p.m.
