NEW JERSEY — Snow squalls are possible Tuesday and Wednesday following a quiet start to the week in Eastern Pennsylvania. Forecasters are also eyeing the possibility of weekend snow.

Temperatures Monday will be in the upper 30s and will reach the 40s later in the week, but the National Weather Service is eyeing a slight chance of snow squalls on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance for a band of snow squalls to get as far south as I-78 before dissipating.

"No significant accumulation is expected, but even a light coating of snow in a snow squall can result in hazardous driving conditions," the National Weather Service said. There's a 20 to 30 percent chance for showers late Tuesday night through Wednesday for areas North of Philly. Depending on the timing, precipitation will likely be primarily rain for most of the area, but areas north of Philadelphia, including the Poconos, could see accumulating snow, the National Weather Service said.

AccuWeather predicts the snow showers and squalls could extend as far south as portions of interstates 80, 81, and 76 in Pennsylvania, "and can potentially bring traffic to a standstill if they are intense enough."
