PENNSYLVANIA — Warmer weather the season of sun is just around the corner, and in Pennsylvania, that means that the many amusement parks around the state are beginning to open up and announce their schedules for the upcoming busy season.
Here's a glance at amusement park opening dates and other key information to keep on your calendar.

Opening day: April 5

New in 2025: A ride called "Twizzlers Twisted Gravity," a giant swing that ascends 137 feet and swings at speeds up to 68 miles per hour.
Opening weekend: April 12
New in 2025: Kennywood Junction, a new scale model of a "small steam town neighborhood" with tiny rides for tiny guests, is opening for the first time this year. Also the new Idlewild Park & SoakZone will officially open on May 17.

Opening day: May 9
Sesame Place water attractions
100 Sesame Road, Langhorne
Opening day: Water attractions will open up May 24 and continue through Sept. 1. Outdoor rides remain open in the spring but will close if there is winter weather.
New in 2025: The park is celebrating its 45th birthday, and will have numerous decorations in place and events to commemorate the occasion throughout the season. The highlight is the ongoing Sesame Street Birthday Parade, described as a "colorful, musical, and show-stopping parade that will get the whole family dancing with contemporary and classic Sesame Street tunes, show-stopping performances, and an interactive birthday song."
Idlewild and Soak Zone

Opening day: May 17
New for 2025: Renovations across the park have improved the Rollo Coaster and Wild Mouse rides as well as the Carousel Horse, while parts of Story Book Forest have been paved and expanded. There are also several special events on this year's calendar, including Kids Fest, Neighbor Days, holiday celebrations, and special weekends for season passholders.
