Ambler Musicivic kicks off Summer concert season with SummerFest

Ambler Musicivic will take a new approach to sharing concerts this summer as our community moves back to in-person experiences

This weekend, Ambler Musicivic kicks off its summer series of online concerts with SummerFest. SummerFest features over 25 pieces from twelve professional music ensembles that were featured during Ambler Musicivic’s spring season. The pieces have been curated into five events “New”, “Nature”, “Winds”, “Early” and “Musicast Composers” debuting throughout the weekend. The concerts will be available “on demand” throughout the summer until Labor Day. Free tickets are accessible at http://tickets.amblermusicivic... The festival serves as a wonderful showcase of the amazing musicians that participated this spring in Musicivic’s Musicast series.

Ambler Musicivic brings chamber music experiences to Ambler and its surrounding communities. Founded as a community project of Musicivic, inc., a national non-profit founded by Ambler natives Peter Kress and Natalie Kress in 2018 to establish chamber music projects in towns and communities across the country, Ambler Musicivic began offering live weekend festivals in the fall of 2019, sponsoring four different chamber ensembles prior to the restrictions that pandemic required in March of 2020. These concerts included performances at The Highlands, Temple Ambler, Forest & Main, Wissahickon Library and even house concerts.

In May, 2020 Musicivic began offering its online Musicast series to Musicivic communities around the country. This pre-recorded online events are repackaged and presented by local community directors in our Musicivic communities, in effect taking our professional chamber music partners “on virtual tour” across our communities. Ambler Musicivic participated since the beginning, and since May 8, has presented over 60 consecutive weeks of unique Musicast programming featuring over 30 different professional music ensembles. These ensembles incorporated Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary, New, Jazz, Roots and Folk repertoire often performed on period instruments.

With SummerFest, Ambler Musicivic is kicking off another season of online Musicast performances with twelve new programs planned through September. With the summer season, Ambler Musicivic will be pioneering a new approach, partnering with local civic, cultural, business and community partners to offer in-person “watch parties” to supplement the online “OnDemand” access already offered. This represents a first hybrid step towards the return of in-person live concerts. Ambler Musicivic hopes to offer live in-person performances beginning in September.

Ambler Musicivic is a donor, member and sponsor supported organization. It does not charge for tickets or basic memberships preferring to ensure access to everyone for its programming. It’s programming has been supported in the past by local community, business and civic organizations, private donors, and by donations in lieu of admission.
