Ambler Student Among Three from Upper Dublin to Ace the SATs

He came prepared with his Number 2 pencils. He filled in the bubbles completely. He made sure there were no stray marks.

Benjamin She's preparation paid off. He scored a perfect 2400 on the SATs.

Five students in total at Upper Dublin High School have a lot to be proud of this year. The three juniors netted perfect scores on a recent SAT. Another two students missed only one.

According to a report in the Ambler Gazette, Julie Baldassano, of Maple Glen, Benjamin She, of Ambler, and William Raynor, of Dresher all scored a perfect 2400 on the test, which is used as a standardized entrance exam for many colleges and unviersities.

Alan Yang, of Dresher, missed only one math question when he took the exam. Emily Zauzmer, of Dresher, said she left one math question blank, making it her only "miss" on the exam. The five from Upper Dublin were happy with their performances.

“I still don’t really believe it,” Baldassano told the Gazette. “I was happily surprised." 

Meanwhile, others were unsure of their score as well.

She said he had "a little bit of disbelief; I thought maybe there was an error" in the Gazette's article.

Raynor said he too was surprised.

"I was pretty nervous; I thought a lot about each question," he said.

Yang said he would mostly just like to know WHICH single math question he missed. Zauzmer knows which was her "miss."

"I was glad my work paid off," said Zauzmer to the Gazette. She called the SATs "an interesting puzzle."

According to the Huffington Post, only 360 students nation-wide scored a perfect 2400. The national trend in 2012 test takers was actually down from the prior year.

"Nationally, average scores on the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT fell one point each, to 496 and 488, respectively, while math scores were steady at 514, indicating stagnant achievement overall in a gradually widening and increasingly diverse pool of test-takers," said the Post's article.
