AMBLER, PA — A historic castle in Montgomery County is now going up for auction.
Bids for Ambler's legendary Lindenwold Castle, built in 1890 and designed to mimic England's Windsor Castle, start at $1.5 million.
Paramount Realty USA is running the auction, which ends on Dec. 19.

It's located on 8 Lindenwold Avenue, just a few blocks from S. Bethlehem Pike. The castle has seen recent improvements, according to the listing.
Developers have received zoning approval to build multi-use housing on the property, but the owner could also choose to keep it as a personal home and make needed renovations to the interior.

The home was originally constructed for asbestos businessman Richard Van Zeelust Mattison. The castle's most recent use has been through the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, who have cared for abused and neglected teens on the property.
