Jocelyn Hillman, one of the founding board members of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, was awarded Jan. 11 the 2014 Alex Scott Crystal Cup Award for her efforts in helping the Scott family.

Press release for Patch from Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
To say that Jocelyn Hillman has been there since the beginning of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is, quite simply, an understatement.
When the Scott family moved to Philadelphia from Connecticut to be closer to Alex’s doctors at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the first people they met was Jocelyn. Jocelyn and her family were at CHOP for a similar reason—her young daughter Carly was also battling cancer.

The Scotts and Hillmans quickly became friends with a noticeably special bond forming between the two childhood cancer heroes, Alex and Carly. As Carly helped Alex with her lemonade stands, Jocelyn was also extremely supportive, not only of the friendship, but of Alex’s inspiration and drive to make a difference and help other kids with cancer.
Although grateful that Carly beat her cancer, the Hillmans were devastated when Alex passed away, prompting Jocelyn to become even more determined to do whatever she could to continue Alex’s legacy.

When the Foundation was formally established in 2005, Jocelyn was one of the founding Board members and since then has served in a variety of roles on the Board including secretary and vice chair.
For all her efforts, Jocelyn was awarded Jan. 11 the 2014 Alex Scott Crystal Cup Award.
In addition to her knowledge base of the Foundation and personal experience with childhood cancer, Jocelyn remains one of the most active Board members and donors providing incredible insight and ideas, as well as “rolling up her sleeves” to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Jocelyn and her family have consistently participated in and generously supported nearly every Foundation event from The Lemon Run and the Million Mile Run, to Lemon: NYC and the Great Chefs Event, to every single Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand. Without Jocelyn, tonight’s Lemon Ball may not have existed as she was instrumental in developing the first gala and continues to play an active role in supporting the affair and helping to acquire sponsorships as well as auction items.
Jocelyn and Carly also continue to inspire others to join the fight as hero ambassadors in which they share the story of Alex and roots of the Foundation with a genuine personal touch.
Always willing to help out with even the most substantial and time consuming endeavors, Jocelyn recently volunteered her time to oversee the ALSF Strategic Plan, which helps plot the course of the Foundation’s ambitious growth for the next five years.
