"This is a recent opportunity for the 7th Congressional District to include this part of the area so there hasn't been a (previous) relationship, but I'm particularly grateful for the chance to be here and learn more about what you're doing, as well as the chance to get to listen to a little bit about the issues that are facing you and what we can do to work together," Meehan said. "Most significantly, I have a unique appreciation for the necessity for education."
Students and faculty shared their stories with Meehan and gave him an insight into the education rooted in Mercy. Owens and Meehan concluded the visit with a campus tour, starting in the newly-opened University Hall and continuing to the laboratories in The Sister Isabelle Keiss Center for Health and Sciences, which houses the Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions.
