The Korean American Association Of Greater Philadelphia Will Host A 50th Anniversary Event
Montgomery County is said to have one of the largest Korean American communities in the entire United States.
BLUE BELL, PA — The Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this coming Saturday with a cultural program at the Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell.
The event is titled "Korea in Philly!" and will celebrate Korean American culture with activities such as traditional martial arts demonstrations, arts and crafts, traditional Korean games and a sampling of traditional Korean food.
There will also be a unity 5K run to commemorate the organization's work within the Greater Philadelphia community.

Attendees will also get to experience a traditional Korean dance performance, a student orchestra performance, a hanbok fashion show, (which will include a mock traditional Korean wedding ceremony), and more.
The event will take place in Montgomery County, which is said to host one of the largest Korean American communities in the United States.

Festivities will be held in the community college's Health Sciences Building between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
"I hope that everyone joining our celebration today can enjoy and experience the dynamic and vibrant Korean culture through various programs that we have prepared," Ambassador Byung Hwa Chung, consul general of the Republican of Korean in New York, said in a statement. "As Korea and the United States celebrate their 140th year of diplomatic ties this year, I wish that this meaningful opportunity will inspire many Americans to learn more about Korea and its rich culture."
The association released a statement saying that the overall goal of the program is to "strengthen our community relationships moving forward to the future. This event will impact the 80,000 Korean American community members living in the Greater Philadelphia area and reintroduce Korean culture to the American public."
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York opened its Consular Office in Philadelphia on April 30, 2021, according to a news release. The office is Korea's 15th diplomatic mission to open in the United States and reflects the growing significance of the Greater Philadelphia region for the government of Korea, the news release states.
