Late Night Ambler Police Activity Connected To Armored Truck Robbery: PD

Residents were urged to avoid an area of the borough.

AMBLER, PA — Police activity in Ambler late Tuesday night that led authorities to urge the public away from certain parts of the borough was connected to the armed robbery of a armored truck earlier in the day, according to authorities and media reports.

Ambler Police issued an alert at around 11 p.m. regarding "police activity" in the area of North Street and Lindenwold Avenue.

"There is no danger to the public at this time but would like the public to stay out of the area," police said. "The officers will be clearing the area shortly."

Though it was stated that there was no danger, many residents were not immediately sure what the cause of the activity was, and it remained a mystery until Wednesday morning. Horsham Chats first indicated the activity was connected to the armed robbery.

The truck robbery occurred at about 1:08 p.m. Tuesday on the 6900 block of Stenton Avenue in the East Mount Airy neighborhood, Fox 29 reported.

Three people stole cash from a Loomis armored truck, assaulted the guard, and stole the guard's weapon, according to 6ABCs.

The suspects then drove off in a Ford Taurus.
