Montco Softball Superstar Named PA Gatorade Player Of The Year
Julia Shearer has once again put up video game like numbers — on the field and in the classroom.

LANSDALE, PA — One of North Penn High School's finest student-athletes is receiving some much deserved statewide recognition.
Softball superstar Julia Shearer has been named the 2022-23 Gatorade Pennsylvania Softball Player of the Year. It's the second time Shearer has been awarded the honor, and third year in a row a North Penn student-athlete has been honored.
"The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field," North Penn shared.

One boys and one girls winner is awarded the honor in each state for each major high school sport.
Shearer's stunning work on the mound propelled North Penn to a 25-0 record and placement in the final round of eight in the postseason. She struck out an absurd 323 batters over 153 innings of 0.23 ERA ball. She also slugged 10 home runs while batting .645. Shohei Ohtani, video game-like numbers.

On top of all that work on the field, Shearer also maintained a 3.85 GPA in the classroom. She was named the nation's number 21 overall recruit, and was awarded a scholarship to play softball at the University of Maryland.
Gatorde has a special player of the year selection committee for each sport that includes top coaches, scouts, journalists, and others to finalize their choices.
