AMBLER, PA — The newest location of the renowned nonprofit, the Boys and Girls Club, has broken ground in Ambler, giving the local region another valuable resource in improving the lives of children.

The Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club will be the third branch of the larger North Penn Valley club.

Groundbreaking was held on the new 27,000 square foot clubhouse, located on 240 Maple Avenue, earlier this month. The facility is expected to be completed by the fall of 2024.

“Our location is in the heart of the community we serve,” Robert K. Kreamer, CEO of North Penn and Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club, said in a statement.

While the facility is new, the organization's presence is not. Boys and Girls has been serving the Ambler area since 2011, and the new facility will allow them to reach even more children. Homework classrooms, a gymnasium, kitchen, games and technology spaces, and outdoor play areas will all be features of the new building.

Groundbreaking was attended by Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors Chair Scott Badami, other local leaders, donors, and club members.

The national organization, in operation since 1860, has clubs in thousands of communities nationwide.
