North Wales Road in Whitpain Scheduled for Construction Closure

The overnight May 20 – 21 construction closure concerns the placement of bridge beams on the north and southbound sides of the overhead structure.

Pennsylvania State Representative Kate Harper (R-61), provided a reminder via her Twitter feed (@Montco061) that North Wales Road in Whitpain and Worcester townships will be closed overnight, May 20 – 21.

The purpose of the closure will be the placement of bridge beams on the northbound and southbound side of the Turnpike underpass structure.

Traffic will be detoured from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. between Morris Road and Township Line Road at North Wales Road, and no vehicle or pedestrian traffic will be allowed through the underpass during the closure.

The detour routes on North Wales road are posted as follows:

  • Westbound – turn left on Morris Road, right on DeKalb Pike, right on Swede Road and right on W. Township Line Road.
  • Eastbound – turn right on W. Township Line Road, left on Swede Road, left on DeKalb Pike and left on Morris Road.

According to Harper’s post, local access on motorists traveling on I-476 should be prepared for single-lane traffic patterns southbound, May 20, from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m., and northbound, May 21, from 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.), approaching the work zone located between milepost A24-A25.
