Scammers Posing As Sheriff's Deputies In Lower Gwynedd

LOWER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP, PA — A new phone scam targeting the Lower Gwynedd area involves scammers posing as court officers or county sheriff's office spokespersons, police said.

The scammers tell victims that they missed a court date, and they must pay a fine or face arrest.

Police give the following instructions to those who are called by scammers:

3️ Report the call to your local law enforcement agency

Legitimate court officials communicate through mail and will never request payment information or a social security number over the phone.
