Whitpain Recreation Association to Celebrate 50 Years

It is a celebration 50 years in the making.

The Whitpain Recreation Association (WRA) will host a golden anniversary party on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 11 p.m., and the community is invited to come along to offer its congratulations.

Tickets are $40 per person and include food, wine and beer, and DJ entertainment.

"The WRA exists because of the enthusiasm of involved parents," said Patrick Foley, president of the WRA, in a letter to parents. "This year, our annual event is a special one, and we encourage you to come out and support our programs while having fun with fellow parents, as well as coaches and other volunteers."

The entire community is invited to attend, but the night out is for those 21 and over only. In addition to standard tickets, those that offer various levels of support through a donation to the organization will be honored with the following titles:

§  $60 - 50th Anniversary Silver Supporter
§  $80 - 50th Anniversary Gold Supporter
§  $100 - 50th Anniversary Platinum Supporter 

"Please sign up soon, as ticket availability will be limited," said Foley. "We promise a casual, fun, sociable evening in support of youth sports in Whitpain."

The night's buffet includes wine and beer (there will be a cash bar for cocktails), caesar salad, potato salad, cole slaw, roast beef au jus, a pasta station (with penne and cheese ravioli with pink vodka sauce), grilled vegetables, cookies, pretzels and chips. Water, coffee, iced tea and lemonade are also included beverages.

The night's events will be hosted at the Blue Bell Country Club, Grand Ballroom, 1800 Tournament Drive, in Blue Bell. There will be raffle fundraisers and a live DJ.

According to the WRA website, the dress code is casual for the night. Registration can be done online.

WRA offers various sports including field hockey, baseball, softball, soccer and and basketball throughout the year. Its governing body is the Whitpain Recreation Association Board of Directors whose members are elected and serve terms of three years. For more information, visit the WRA website.
