$7.1M Water Main Replacement Work Underway In Haverford

Aqua Pennsylvania is replacing water mains on seven roads across Haverford Township, replacing more than 14,000 feet of old mains.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Three projects to improve water service in Haverford Township to the tune of $7.1 million total are underway.

Aqua Pennsylvania crews are working on seven roads across the township.

On West Chester Pike and Manoa Road, crews are working on a $4.6 million project to replace 10,311 feet of aging 6-, 8-, 12- and 16-inch cast iron water mains with new ductile iron water mains of the same size on the following streets.

The portion of West Chester Pike being addresses is between Lawrence and Manoa roads, and Manoa Road work is between West Chester Pike and Shelbourne Road.

The work is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in the fall.

Additionally, crews are working to replace 4,470 feet of aging 16-inch water mains with new 16-inch ductile iron water mains on Manoa Road between Allston and Old Manoa roads.

The $1.6 million project is expected to be completed by July, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in September.

Crews are also working on a $931,000 project to replace 3,696 feet of aging 6-inch water mains with new 6-and 8-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Mapleshade Road between Ardmore Avenue and Malvern Road;
  • Hazelwood Avenue between Haverford and Mapleshade roads;
  • Malvern Road between Haverford Road and Belmont Avenue;
  • Georges Lane between Haverford and Morris roads.

The work is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in October.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.
