Body of Missing Teacher Found Along Schuylkill

The body of a missing teacher and father of three was found Sunday along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, his family and police have confirmed.

Christopher Tully, 40, a Middle Bucks Institute of Technology teacher, had been missing since Jan. 6. He was last seen on foot in Philadelphia at the off ramp where City Avenue meet the exits to Ridge Avenue and Lincoln Drive. A family member was taking him for medical treatment when he got out of the car.

His body was found near the Falls Bridge in East Falls, NBC10 reported.

Tully, a Jamison resident and father of three, had worked as a multimedia technology teacher at MBIT for the past 12 years.

The school released the following statement following the discovery of Tully’s body:

Mr. Tully will be remembered as an exemplary teacher who spent 12 years on staff with us, having a positive impact on the lives of our students and all with whom he worked. In 2014 he was named Outstanding Career and Technical Educational Teacher by the Pennsylvania Association for Career and Technical Education. We knew him as an outstanding teacher and person.

Counselors will be assisting students and staff at our school this week as our community copes with this loss. We appreciate your support at this difficult time.
