"I am so thrilled to have the ability to play live again,” guitarist, percussionist and co-lead vocalist, Dee Gerhart, said. "I know James, John, and myself always planned to continue writing, and recording however we could after our hiatus, but being able to share that live connection with the audience is irreplaceable. We are lucky to have found Jared and Shannon as they are fantastic additions to the band."
"It’s good to be back at it, it sure beats selling cars or working at Costco," drummer and co-lead singer, James Daniels, said. "Jared on bass and Shannon on keys and violin have fit in perfectly. The dynamic of the band is slightly different, but the product is basically the same. The real improvement are Jared and Shannon’s vocals. And we are fresh off our first tour, taking the new lineup on the road! We hit some of our main spots in New York and Pennsylvania. Then we did a few shows with our buds in Disco Risqué ending in their hometown Charlottesville, Virginia. It was a wonderful way to introduce the new version of Chestnut Grove."
"We are also in the studio cooking up some new tunes already," James said. "Hopefully we can jump in right where we left off and keep the momentum going. Either way it’s a joy to be back to making music with my best friends and being lucky enough to have people excited to listen and come out to our shows."
Originally formed in 2011 by longtime collaborators Dee Gerhart and James Daniels, Chestnut Grove toured the US relentlessly as a part of The Nimbleslick Entertainment roster from 2018-2020 until sidelined by the pandemic.
They have shared bills and stages with The Hooters, Turkuaz, Ron Gallo (Toy Soldiers), Cyril Neville & the R.S.B., The Felice Brothers, Ryan Montbleau, Wilderado, People’s Blues Of Richmond, Hoots & Hellmouth, Wild Adriatic, and others while touring the East Coast from 2015 to 2017.
In 2022, the band made their inaugural appearance at WXPN’s Xponential Music Festival and WXPN’s Free at Noon concert series.
Their 2024 album, "Can’t Stand The Music," was met with praise and featured singles including the title track and the psychedelic "All For You," and their 2021 release, "The Album" spotlighted singles "Golden Age," "Ain't Got Nobody," "Newspaper Hats," and fan favorite, "I Know Somebody."
