Electrical Box Fire Breaks Out Saturday In Ardmore

Businesses in a strip on Woodside Road in Ardmore were without power for a while Saturday as crews battled an electrical box fire.

ARDMORE, PA — Emergency responders in Lower Merion Township handled an electrical box fire over the weekend.

The fire broke out in an electrical box in the alley behind the Hair Cuttery, 19 Woodside Road in Ardmore, at about 5:51 p.m. Saturday, the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore said.

Those first on scene found the box exploded open, with heavy smoke pouring from it.

All stores in the area were evacuated out of caution.

PECO came to the scene and shut off power to the box.

This allowed firefighters to safely extinguish the fire.

During this time, the whole business strip was without power, the fire company said.

Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half.

No one was hurt in the incident.
