Fire Leads To SEPTA Train Evacuation In Ardmore

ARDMORE, PA — Passengers on a SEPTA train in Ardmore were evacuated Monday morning, according to officials.

At about 8:40 a.m., the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore was called to the Ardmore train station for a report of a train fire.

SEPTA said a burning smell triggered the onboard fire alarm on the Paoli/Thorndale Line train.

Crews cut off power to the train, and the small electrical fire was quickly extinguished, the fire company said.

Firefighters helped evacuate hundred of passengers, who were picked up by SEPTA buses to continue their commutes.

The scene was cleared in about an hour, according to the fire company.
