From First Glide to Olympic Dreams — Learn to Skate in Ardmore

With the Winter Olympics on the horizon, there’s no better time to step onto the ice — and Ardmore is home to one of America’s most historic skating clubs ready to teach you how.

The Philadelphia Skating Club & Humane Society, founded in 1849 and home to generations of competitive skaters, offers a Learn to Skate program for ages 4 through adult. Whether you’re brand-new to skating or dreaming of future spins and jumps, this is how Olympic journeys begin — one glide at a time.

Weekly classes include 30 minutes of professional instruction plus 30 minutes of supervised practice, led by coaches with national, international, and Olympic experience. The curriculum follows U.S. Figure Skating standards, progressing from basic balance and stops to spins, jumps, and artistry.

And here’s the magic: every Olympian began in a Learn to Skate class somewhere. The next one could be right here in Ardmore.

Winter sessions run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Rental skates are available, and adults are welcome — it’s never too late to try something new. Ready to get on the ice?
