Former Lower Merion Basketball Star Transfers to La Salle University

B.J. Johnson is returning to the Philadelphia area after two years playing for Syracuse.

A former Lower Merion basketball star who led the Aces to a state championship in 2013 is coming home, according to Philly.com.

After playing two years for Syracuse University, B.J. Johnson has announced plans to transfer to La Salle University, the alma mater of his father, Bobby, who played guard for the Explorers from 1986 to 1990.

Per NCAA rules, Johnson must sit out the next season and still has two season of eligibiity at the college level. According to Syracuse.com, Johnson averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 25 games last season.

As a senior at Lower Merion, Johnson led the Aces to a PIAA Class AAAA championship with averages of 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds.
