Lanes, Ramps Closing On I-76 Overnight In Lower Merion Next Week

Overnight bridge repair, milling, and paving will impact traffic overnight on Interstate 76 in Lower Merion next week, PennDOT said.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Overnight work will impact traffic on Interstate 76 in Lower Merion next week, according to PennDOT.

The work is part of a $37.9 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in Lower Merion and Philadelphia.

  • Monday, May 12, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramps to-and-from eastbound I-76 to City Avenue will be closed and detoured. Motorists will be directed to use westbound I-76 to access City Avenue.
  • Monday, May 12, through Thursday, May 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on I-76 in both directions between the City Avenue and I-676 interchanges.
  • Tuesday, May 13, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramps to-and-from eastbound I-76 to Girard Avenue will be closed and detoured. Motorists will be directed to use westbound I-76 to access Girard Avenue.
  • Wednesday, May 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from westbound I-76 to Girard Avenue will be closed and detoured. Motorists will be directed to use eastbound I-76 to access Girard Avenue.
  • Thursday, May 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from City Avenue to eastbound I-76 and northbound U.S. 1 will be closed and detoured. Motorists will be directed to use westbound I-76 and exit at Belmont Avenue to access eastbound I-76 and U.S. 1.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur.
