Lower Merion Commissioner Announces Resignation

Ward 2 Commissioner Jenny Brown said in an email that she will step down in time for voters to pick her replacement on Election Day.

Lower Merion Commissioner Jenny Brown has decided not to finish her term as representative for the township’s Ward 2, according to Philly.com.

Reports say that Brown sent an email Thursday to residents in her ward announcing her decision, with no reason given for the resignation.

Main Line Media News reports that the email assured voters that they would have an opportunity to choose a replacement to finish the final two years of Brown’s term. She will leave office before Aug. 10, the message says, which allows the Board of Commissioners to select someone to serve the rest of the year. However, the resignation will be early enough to add her seat to the Nov. 3 Election Day ballot.
