Lower Merion To Consider Raising Solid Waste Collection Fees

The Lower Merion Township Commissioners will vote on raising solid waste collection fees by 5 percent at a special meeting Wednesday.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners are hosting a special meeting Wednesday to vote on increasing solid waste collection fees.

The meeting will be held at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Second Floor Board Room of the Lower Merion Township Administration Building in Ardmore.

At the meeting, the commissioners will vote on an ordinance that would amend the township code.

The amendment would provide a 5 percent increase to residential solid waste collection fees for each subscription level (mini-can, standard, and enhanced) and all optional rear-yard collection service levels.

Below are fees should the ordinance pass:

  • Annual solid waste fee for a mini-can container up to 21 gallons — $303
  • Annual solid waste fee for one or two containers that total between 21 and 96 gallons — $465
  • Annual solid waste fee for three or four containers that total between 96 and 192 — gallons $686

Rear yard collection (if elected):

  • For collection of a container up to 21 gallons — $245
  • For collection of one or two containers that total between 21 and 96 gallons — $307
  • For collection of three or four containers that total between 96 and 192 gallons — $368
