Main Line Urgent Vet invites children and families to a tail-wagging fun evening of reading and rescue during its Read to a Rescue event on Wednesday, November 5, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 20 Woodside Road, Ardmore, PA.

Children are encouraged to bring their favorite book to read aloud to Ms. Lee, a sweet and gentle 7-year-old mix available for adoption through ACCT Philly. Ms. Lee was rescued from a euthanasia list due to her length of stay before finding a loving foster home—and now she’s ready to find her forever family.

Known as one of the calmest and kindest dogs around, Ms. Lee is happiest curled up on a soft bed getting belly rubs and attention. She loves every person she meets and has a special talent for convincing anyone nearby to stop for pets. Fully house-trained, crate-trained, and car-ride ready, Ms. Lee also gets along well with cats and is working on her dog manners. She would make a wonderful companion for a first-time dog owner, a work-from-home buddy, or anyone looking for a mellow, affectionate dog. Her adoption fee is only $25 through ACCT Philly, and she can be followed on Instagram at @Adoptable_philly.

Reading to animals has been shown to benefit both children and pets. For children, reading to a calm, nonjudgmental listener like Ms. Lee helps boost confidence, improve reading fluency, and foster empathy. For dogs, the soothing sound of a child’s voice provides comfort, reduces stress, and helps socialize them—making them more relaxed and adoptable. Events like Read to a Rescue create a unique bond between young readers and rescue animals, reinforcing compassion and community connection.

During the event, families can enjoy cookies and juice, meet Ms. Lee, and learn more about Main Line Urgent Vet’s commitment to compassionate pet care and community engagement.
