Merion Mercy Academy Appoints Janice Duffield as New Director of Athletics

Duffield brings to Merion Mercy nearly two decades of experience as Director of Athletics at Albright College.

Merion Mercy Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Duffield as the school’s next Director of Athletics, effective August 2025.


Duffield brings to Merion Mercy nearly two decades of experience as Director of Athletics at Albright College, where she oversaw 24 intercollegiate sports teams. Her tenure was marked by the expansion of athletic offerings, the hiring and mentorship of coaches, coordination of major facility upgrades, and the implementation of student-centered athletic programming.


In addition to her leadership as an administrator, Duffield has had a celebrated coaching career. As Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Albright from 2002 to 2025, she led the program to five NCAA tournament appearances, including the school’s first-ever conference championship and a Sweet Sixteen finish. She is the winningest coach in program history and has helped develop numerous all-conference and regional award-winning athletes.

Duffield holds a master’s degree in Sport and Athletics Administration from West Chester University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Management from Albright College, where she was a multi-sport athlete in basketball and field hockey.


At Merion Mercy, Duffield will oversee all aspects of the school’s athletic program. She is committed to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive athletic culture that supports the holistic development of student-athletes. Her focus will include enhancing team performance, supporting athletes’ well-being, and attracting and retaining mission-aligned coaches.
