The Delicious Dishes That Landed These PA Restaurants On New 'Best Of' List

Eater Philadelphia this week added some new spots to its list of the "Best Restaurants in Philadelphia." See the newcomers here.

PHILADELPHIA — Eater Philadelphia is a go-to resource for all things Philly food. The publication offers a plethora of specific lists for diners to find the perfect dining experience in the city of brotherly love.

But it also has a list of the overall best restaurants in the city, and it recently added some spots to its compendium of must-try eateries.

Updated Tuesday, the new list features 38 restaurants in the city proper, and one in New Jersey (sorry, Pennsylvania suburbs).

Now featured on the list are Polish cuisine spot Little Walter’s, Meethinghouse with its slim menu but perfect delivery, beloved diner Sulimay’s, Chinatown's Sang Kee Peking Duck House, and El Chingon, known for its cemitas (AKA Mexican sandwiches).

El Chingon in 2023 was featured on the New York Times' "The Restaurant List," with outlet saying it "doesn’t clamor for attention or traffic in gimmicks; it’s simply a neighborhood restaurant, albeit one of the highest order." And Chef Juan Carlos Aparicio was among the 13 Philadelphia chefs and restaurants that were named semifinalists in the 2025 James Beard Awards.

Sulimay's is a no frills diner just off Interstate 95 in Fishtown. For breakfast, Sulimay's offers up its signature "Fishtown scrapple," which is made with whitefish and cornmeal, as well as all the sweet and savory breakfast classics. And typically on Wednesday evenings Sulimay's hosts a burger night, serving up a few burger variations, pulled pork, fries, shakes, and more. Check their social media for when burger night is happening.

Little Walter's has one of the best bites of food in the city in their kielbasa dish. Coined kielbasa is served with cold, crunchy pickle chunks on top of a smear of grainy mustard. And they offer the one of the most unique city wides in Philly: a 16 ounce can Polish lager Zubr and a shot of Zubrówka bison grass vodka. The Philadelphia Inquirer listed Little Walter on the publication's list of the 76 best restaurants in the Philadelphia area.

Meetinghouse, located in the former Memphis Taproom, does not do pomp and flair, but it does beer and food well. The standout dish is the roast beef sandwich. Piled high with meat and dripping in jus, the sandwich comes with horseradish that cuts through the rich 'wich. Their hot crab dip is also a stellar dish that feels like it came from the heart of Maryland.

Sang Kee Peeking Duck House is a fan favorite and the definitive spot to get an eye-catching peeking duck. The cherished Ninth Street spot boasts 4.4 stars out of a whopping 1,996 reviews on Google. Having opened in 1980, the Chinatown staple is a centerpiece of the bustling neighborhood.

The list also saw a few spots get axed. They are Kampar, Pod, Cantina La Martina, Alpen Rose, and Jansen.
