Patch Readers Support Pa. Minimum Wage Increase

Gov. Tom Wolf last week said he supports legislation that would increase Pennsylvania’s minimum wage by nearly $3 an hour, and Patch readers said that they agreed.

Pennsylvania’s minimum wage currently is $7.25 an hour, the same as the federal minimum wage. Legislation proposed by state Rep. Patty Kim (D-103rd) would increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

“State legislators who enjoy an annual automatic pay increase now have the power to give this same benefit to low-wage workers,” Kim said in announcing the legislation.

Wolf said he would support such an increase.

In a Patch Poll, 56.48 percent of readers said that they agreed with Wolf, and thought that Pennsylvania minimum wage should be raised to $10.10 an hour.

Some 9.92 percent of people thought minimum wage should be raised, but not that much; 33.6 percent of readers thought minimum wage should not be raised at all.
