Popular Montco Cheesesteak Spot Expanding Into Delco
Gazzos Steaks in Pottstown is heading down to Delco, as it is planning a second location in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township.

ARDMORE, PA — A popular Montgomery County cheesesteak slinging spot is expanding its footprint by opening a Delaware County location.
Gazzos Steaks in Pottstown is working now to get their new location in Ardmore open. The new spot will be a takeout only location at 2528 Haverford Road in the Ardmore section of Haverford Township.
Owner Joe Lewis told Patch he and co-owner Mike Lamson are working with Haverford Township to ensure all requirements are met, as well as working to install kitchen equipment at the location. They hope to open within 90 days.

Lewis said the opportunity to expand came when a customer at their Pottstown location mentioned the Haverford Road space being available.
"We weren't planning to expand," Lewis said. "But we saw the space and thought it was a nice opportunity."

Having only opened the Pottstown store in 2022, Gazzos has already cultivated a following of loyal customers, some of whom are local professional athletes and musicians. Lewis named The Roots among its high profile customers.
With the Haverford Township location coming soon, he said some professional athletes who live in the area have shown interest. For those unaware, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce lives nearby with his wife Kylie and daughters Wyatt, Elliott, and Bennett.

Fans of Gazzos can expect the same menu items they love to be available at the new location, Lewis said.
All their steaks are served with fresh sliced ribeye steak and Cooper Sharp Cheese on rolls from Aversa's Italian Bakery, which delivers freshly baked rolls to the store every morning. Customers can swap out Cooper Sharp for provolone, American, or Cooper wiz. Their non-traditional steaks feature specialty ingredients such as smoked Cooper cheese, truffles, and pork roll.
The menu also features roast pork and chicken cutlet sandwiches, both of which come with house made provolone wiz and broccoli rabe.
Gazzos also offers up french fries topped with some of the sandwich ingredients above, such as steak fries that come with all the trappings of a cheesesteak and roast pork fries. You get the idea.

"We’re coming out to bring quality food," Lewis said of the Delco expansion. "Everything is done in house, nothing is out of a bag."
Lewis said the goal of Gazzos was to make and serve food he and Lamson want and like to eat.
"We're foodies," he said.
Hours for the Ardmore spot haven't been set yet, but Lewis said he expects the hours to be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., mimicking the Pottstown location's hours. And when the new locations open, ordering will most likely all be done online, with Lewis saying they may use Doordash to provide ordering and delivery services.
As for the vibe in Delco, Lewis said he's gotten plenty of positive feedback and can sense anticipation among hungry Delconians.
"A lot of people are saying they can't wait to come," he said. "It seems like a lot are excited for us to be [in Ardmore]. There's a ton of mouths to feed down there."
