Resurfacing, Bridge Repair To Impact I-76 Traffic In Lower Merion

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Interstate 76 in Lower Merion and Philadelphia will have lane and ramp closures for a few weeks due to resurfacing and bridge repair work, PennDOT said.
Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- From 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, a lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the U.S. 1 North (Roosevelt Boulevard) and Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive interchanges for bridge repair.
- From 7 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Oct. 31, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to U.S. 1 (City Avenue) will be closed and detoured for concrete repair, milling, and paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route to access U.S. 1 (City Avenue).
- Monday through Nov. 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a weeknight lane closure will be in place on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in both directions between Walnut Street and the Grays Ferry/University Avenue Exit (346B).
- From 8 p.m. Nov. 7 to 5 a.m. Nov. 10, a lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the U.S. 1 North (Roosevelt Boulevard) and Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive interchanges for bridge repair. This work had been scheduled to begin on Friday.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because significant backups and delays may occur.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
This work is being done under a $41.3 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in the City of Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township.
