Still No Timeline For GIANT's Genuardi's Takeover

GIANT has been doing some minor painting, but has still not announced its timeline for takeover of the Wynnewood Genuardi's.

employees and corporate officials are still as in the dark as the rest of us as to , according to MaryAnne Crager, public affairs manager at Genuardi's.

"We expect it to be soon—we actually expected it to happen by now," Crager said on Monday.

GIANT Food Stores , including the Genuardi's in Wynnewood. But as of yet, GIANT has not moved in, and it's been quiet on the exact timing of the transfer.

So far, GIANT has been doing minor painting and removing signs, but that's been the extent of their involvement, Crager said.

Genuardi's has also stopped selling the majority of its products made by Safeway—Genuardi's parent company—since those products will not be sold by GIANT once the takeover happens. The remaining products, national brands like Kellogg's, will be inventoried and sold by GIANT.

Products that can spoil, like dairy products and eggs, are still being bought, but in smaller quantities so there is not a surplus if the transfer is announced suddenly, Crager said.
