The statement also warns of hot and humid weather expected to hit the area Wednesday and Thursday, with the forecast calling for heat indices between 95 and 100 degrees.

This afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
