Can't be at the U.S. Open in person? Check out what Patch is seeing.
I have never been to a golf match before, so I guess the 2013 U.S. Open championship is as good as any place to start.
I showed up in the wrong footwear (there was at least one other woman wearing sandals), but the view of the golf course, the excitement of the spectators and the historic nature of the event is what matters.
I checked out some of the course (it is big and complicated—you need a map to get around). In fact, I believe this is the first golf course I have ever stepped foot on. Talk about a first time for everything.

Tiger Wood's press interview took place at 12 p.m. on Tuesday. The room was packed. He was asked about an apparent tiff with fellow player Sergio Garcia, asked about how the weather and Merion's design would impact his play, and asked about what it would be like to win his fourth U.S. Open at Merion, where there is so much history from the greats of golf.

Of that last question he said, "It would be nice, but we've got a long way to go. It hasn't even started yet."
Woods said for him it's not about his legacy— he said he just wants to win. The "rush, fun and thrill" of playing every tournament is to "try to kick everyone's butt."
