Widely Known Montco Coroner, Of Merion, Dies At 79

HOFMAN, DR. WALTER I., on Feb. 19, 2016, recently retired Montgomery County Coroner, and former Chairman of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Roxborough Memorial Hospital.

Hofman was widely known for his decision in Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua’s death, stating he died of natural causes just as a frenzy started over accusations that his aide was endangering children.

Beloved husband of Ethel (nee Greenwald). Loving father of Andrew (Dina) Hofman and Michael (Cecile) Hofman. Grandfather of Aaron, Emilia, Mia, Isabella, Nicole, and Jonathan. Brother of Phyllis (Otto) Waldmann. Brother-in-law of Jack (Anne) Greenwald and Roy (Wilma) Greenwald.

Also lovingly remembered by Michelle (Johnny) Hynes.

Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Sunday, 1 P.M. precisely, at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El, 1001 Remington Road, Wynnewood PA 19096. Interment Haym Salomon Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed through Wednesday evening at the late residence.
