Wynnewood's Joseph Nagle, Longtime Firefighter, Villanova Grad, Passes At 80​

Nagle held served with the Merion Fire Company and was the president of the Penn Wynne Fire Company. He will be missed by many.


Joseph W. Nagle, of Wynnewood, PA., passed away on Friday October 13, 2017 at Lankenau Hospital. He was 80.

Son of the late Joseph E. & Mary Nicholl Nagle, he was born on February 24, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended St. Colman School in Ardmore, and was a graduate of West Catholic High School and Villanova University. He served in the U.S. Army. Joe was a member of the Merion Fire Company and a member and former president of the Penn Wynne Fire Company. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was the beloved husband of Rose Marie "Ro" Nagle (nee Scutti). Devoted father of Mary Ann Blundi (late Christopher), Patricia M. Travitz (Jeff) and Joseph W. Nagle, Jr. Loving "Poppy" to grandchildren Christopher, Katherine, Emily and Brianna and great-grandson Ayden. Also survived by his brother Richard Nagle.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 20, 11 AM at Presentation B.V.M. Church, 204 Haverford Rd., Wynnewood, PA. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, PA or on Friday from 10 to 11 AM at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
