1 Night, 1 Block, 2 Burglary Attempts in Bala Cynwyd
Also last week, a Penn Valley front door left unlocked for a child was used first by a burglar, police say.

The 700 block of Oxford Road in Bala Cynwyd was the site of both a burglary and an attempted burglary Friday evening, Lower Merion police said Monday.
The owners of one house reported that someone entered an unlocked window between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., though nothing is known to have been stolen.
At the second house, an alarm was activated about 8:10 p.m., police said. Cut marks were found on a side-window screen; it was possible but not confirmed that someone had gained entry due to the damage to plants inside the window.
Burglars struck at another Bala Cynwyd house and a Penn Valley address, too, last week:

Burglars struck at another Bala Cynwyd house and a Penn Valley address, too, last week:
- Between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, someone stole the window screen and damaged the pane on a window on the first block of Dartmouth Road, police said. All doors and windows had been locked, and no one gained entry to the house.
- A resident of the 800 block of Woodbine Avenue left the front door unlocked Thursday for her daughter returning from school. When the mother returned home at 6:20 p.m., about three hours after the daughter, she found the master bedroom ransacked and jewelry missing. It was determined the burglar or burglars struck between 11:30 a.m. and the daughter's 3:30 p.m. arrival home, police said.
Burglars also targeted a Merion Station home last week, as well as homes in Gladwyne, Bryn Mawr and Villanova.
