3 Burglaries, 2 Attempts Last Week, Police Say
In three incidents, the homeowners were away on vacation.

Lower Merion police responded to three burglaries and two attempted burglaries in Bala Cynwyd, Penn Valley and Narberth within the past week, police said at a Monday briefing.
Pry tools were used in several of the burglaries. In three incidents, the homeowners were away on vacation.
Jewelry taken in Penn Valley: Several jewelry items were stolen from a home on the 300 block of Bobarn Drive in Penn Valley on March 20, police said. Homeowners reported the burglary at 10:19 p.m. when they returned home from dinner and found the front door unlocked, a rear kitchen window standing open and a suitcase on the counter, according to the report. Police believe the burglar(s) first tried to pry open the front door, then entered through the rear kitchen window.

Burglary attempt in Narberth: Police responded to a home on the 1200 block of Chermar Lane in Narberth at 9:04 p.m. on March 23 on report of an alarm activation, according to the report. While checking the property, police found damage to the dining room bay window that looked like an attempt at forced entry: a window screen was on the ground and a pry tool had been used, but no entry was gained, police said.
Television stolen in Bala Cynwyd: A 42-inch flat screen television valued at $600 was stolen from a home on the unit block of W Princeton Road in Bala Cynwyd sometime between the morning of March 22 and the afternoon of March 24, police said. A neighbor called police at 1:47 p.m. when he saw the home’s back door standing open; police found a pane of glass smashed out in the home’s back door, according to the report.

Doorframe broken in Bala Cynwyd: A home on the 400 block of Pembroke Road in Bala Cynwyd was found burglarized on March 24, police said. The doorframe was lying on the ground, cracked in several places, with the deadbolt still extended, police said. The homeowners were away at the time of the burglary, so it is unknown at this time if anything is missing.
Burglary attempt in Bala Cynwyd: While conducting a neighborhood check following burglaries in Bala Cynwyd, a homeowner on the 400 block of Kent Road told police a window screen on his back door had been broken. The window screen had been cut on both corners to gain access to the locking mechanism of the window, but it appears no entry was gained, police said.
