Burglary at Connelly Container Site, Police Say

An officer was calling for backup when the alleged burglars spotted him, according to the report.

Lower Merion police interrupted a burglary at the former Connelly Container site in Bala Cynwyd on Sunday night, police told news media at a Monday briefing.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, an officer out searching for a reported disabled vehicle near the former Connelly Containers site, near 600 Righters Ferry Road, noticed a gate open at the site and a set of double doors on the building standing open as well, police said.

After observing for several minutes, the officer saw two figures emerge, carrying an object, which they placed down outside the doors. At that point the officer called for backup—but before additional officers arrived, the two individuals noticed the officer and began running on foot.
